Our own analytics — no third parties

We run Matomo on our own servers to improve yappidoo. No data goes to Google, Facebook or other trackers. We only collect statistics after you explicitly consent — and only the bare minimum.

A family project from Göttingen, Germany

yappidoo is a project by the two of us: Christoph handles development and operations, Katja shapes concept and parent-side experience. Finding playmates for our kids was often a matter of luck – we wanted something reliable, data-minimal, and free of ad tracking. The kind of app we'd want to use ourselves.

Financing & business model

• Basic use is free and stays that way.
• We finance ourselves through transparently labeled local partnerships.
• We never sell user data – ever.

Your data belongs to you

• You can download all your data as a file any time.
• You can delete your account in the settings – everything is gone with one click.

What we ask for – and why

Data minimization is not a slogan. Here's exactly which fields we use and which are optional.

• Email (Required): Login and important notifications
• Family nickname (Required): How we address you – made-up names are fine
• Child's first name (Required): Match suggestions – a nickname is fine
• Child's date of birth (Required): Age matching – so we can find playmates of a similar age
• Kindergarten name (Optional): Priority for kids from the same kindergarten
• Profile photo (Optional): Recognition – initials work just as well
• Postcode (Required): Region for matching kindergartens – no street or house number
• City (Required): Helps us place kindergartens in your town more quickly
• Emergency contact (Optional): Only shared with confirmed playmate families
